Our Love Story

Living in Eastchester, NY and just only three blocks away from each other their entire lives, Nick and Kristen never met until the summer of 2004. At the time Nick was the Operations Manager, and Kristen was a newly hired lifeguard at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, NY. It would be nice to say that it was love at first sight, however, Nick was four years older and Kristen’s manager. There was no way that a relationship could possibly begin…right? Well years later Kristen became a manager as well and this is where their story begins…

The summer of 2010 was a summer filled with laughter and friendship. It wasn’t until the end of the summer that Nick invited Kristen, along with other friends, for drinks before Kristen left for college. Nick would always try to keep in touch with Kristen while she was away at school but due to conflicts the two would never see each other. June 5, 2011 Nick and Kristen attended a farewell party for a close friend who was resigning from Lake Isle. They were inseparable the entire night, and from that point on they never left each other’s side.

After two years of dating, Kristen and Nick began talking about moving in with each other (little did Kristen know Nick had plans to propose). The week of January 19, 2014 Nick told Kristen that he had purchased a Groupon and was taking her to the Ritz Carlton for the weekend. Kristen, oblivious to the plan, went with both of her Sisters and her Mother to get her nails done, and to buy a new dress/ shoes. Kristen still not having a clue as to what was about to happen finished packing four heavy bags for a one night stay…you could never pack enough options..right ladies? Nick picked up Kristen and they went to the hotel. Nick arranged for a couples massage and made an appointment to have Kristen’s hair done at the salon in the hotel. With Kristen feeling relaxed and Nick trying to play cool (he was totally a nervous wreck on the inside), they headed to the rooftop restaurant 42 at the Ritz Carlton. A private table was set with a view of Manhattan. They dined, and they laughed, and they laughed some more. The plates were cleaned up and the waiter asked Nick if he could take a picture. This was Nicks’ queue that it was time. Kristen scooted over on her seat so Nick could get next to her, but instead of sitting down Nick got on one knee and asked Kristen to marry him. In complete shock Kristen responded YES. Nick and Kristen being super excited spent hours soaking the moment in. As they sat they were congratulated by numerous people dining in the restaurant. Even Mike Woodson, former coach of the New York Knicks, came over to congratulate the newly engaged couple (Nick thought this was pretty cool, Kristen was staring at her ring!) Night over? Wrong! Nick still had one surprise left for Kristen. Nick coordinated with her sisters to go to the hotel room while they dined to set up rose petals (AKA “Petals of Love”), balloons, chocolate strawberries, champagne, and a basket with books about planning a wedding. The night was truly amazing and will go down as one of the best night of their lives.

The couple is due to get married on September 18, 2015, and they absolutely can’t wait to get married! They are best friends and can’t express how excited they are to marry in front of all their closest family and friends.
